Tonight I want to share some truth with you that I know will help you with your burdens. As a counselor, this truth has helped so many people to realize that their lives were not in such bad shape after all.
Here is this all important truth – You do not have to be perfect to experience God’s love and grace!!! If you are a follower of Jesus, you are Accepted!!!
Do you constantly worry about all of the mistakes you have made, or continue to make and how God is going to react to you? If so, this is an exhausting way to live for sure. God never gets mad at us, nor does He ever love us any less when we mess up.
When Adam and Eve realized they sinned, it bothered them so much that they actually tried to hide from God!! We do the very same and it is actually easier for us to feel that we cam succeed since God is not visible to us. Truth is, there is no reason to hide.
Remember, God knows we are going to mess up. That is why, in His perfect wisdom, He sent Jesus, His only Son, to die on the cross for us. Jesus paid for ALL sin for ALL people for ALL time. Firstly, God already knows what you are going to do, so it never comes as a surprise to Him. Second, yes there will be consequences for your sin, but never condemnation. You will never lose your salvation for sin, because your sin was already paid for. It is only the consequences that will come from your sin, and you can understand why consequences must come – God is holy and just. Just like we always want justice when we are wronged, God ensures that justice always gets served.
Therefore, stop beating yourself up when you mess up. We are going to mess up from time to time. We should know when we have done wrong, confess our wrongs to God and then try our best to not do that again. This is a lifelong process for all of God’s children. God knows that – the sooner we learn it, the better off we will be!
Lord, we are so grateful for Your love and acceptance! When we confess our sins to You we thank You for forgiving us and accepting us just as we are, warts and all! In Jesus name, AMEN!!
