Love is what matters most in the world. It should take top priority in all of our lives. Not money, or fame, or fortune, or popularity, or Facebook likes, or our jobs. It is love.
God and the Bible make it very clear that we were put here on Earth to be in a relationship with God where we show Him love, respect, and reverence for who God is. But we were also put here to be in loving relationships with other people.
God says, “Whenever we have the opportunity, we should do good to everyone. Use every chance you have for doing good. Whenever you possibly can, do good to those who need it. Love everyone.”
The best time to love people is right this minute. Unless you are the one person in the world that the Bible doesn’t ever mention, none of us are guaranteed another second here on Earth. You have the opportunity right now to tell those you love exactly how you feel about them, but what if tomorrow never comes? Circumstances change – people pass away unexpectedly – children grow up so fast. The last thing you want is to not have a chance to tell someone you love them.
Can you honestly say that there is something more important to you than people? Knowing that one day you will stand before God and give an account for your life, the last thing you will want to have a conversation with God about is why your project at work took precedence over your wife – why you could not put your phone down long enough to listen to your child tell you about their day – why you could not volunteer at church because you were too busy with your fantasy football league.
Who do you need to start spending more time with? What do you need to cut out of your schedule or stop doing to spend more time with loved ones or make more to to volunteer? Whatever that is, I pray that you will do it. Time is precious and we are never guaranteed any of it. God wants you to make the absolute most of every minute you get.
Be a blessing to those around you and tell those you hold dear exactly how you feel about them and how they make your lives better by being in it. People never get tired of hearing it and you will feel so much better for doing it. As a bonus, God will smile when you do!
Love always wins!
