15 While Jesus was having dinner at Levi’s house, many tax collectors and sinners were eating with Him and His disciples, for there were many who followed Him. 16 When the teachers of the law who were Pharisees saw Him eating with the sinners and tax collectors, they asked his disciples: “Why does He eat with tax collectors and sinners?”
17 On hearing this, Jesus said to them, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.”
Make no mistake about it, Jesus did not come for the perfect people who were 100% ready to serve Him with their perfect lives, with perfect attitudes, and perfect faith.
No, Jesus came for those of us who doubt sometimes. Those of us who struggle with life from time to time. Those of us who wonder where God is in the mess that is our lives.
Jesus came for me. He came for you. He came for the people who refuse to believe in Him. He just wants our love and a relationship with us.
Is that too much to ask in return for giving His life for us? I think not.
I am proud to call myself “sick.” Yes, I am a “sheep.” I am one of the ones Jesus came for and I will never consider myself anything else but His child.
I am ready for His return and I pray that you who are reading this are as well. If not, then you can be by accepting Jesus as your personal Savior, who gave His life so that you can have eternal life.
Jesus came to die for us, the weak, the tired, the sick, the lost, the lonely, the persecuted, and the sinner. He will return for us as well. Please have your bags packed and be ready for that return. You never know when He will arrive!!
