For many Christians, the resurrection is something they hear spoken about in church but they have no real idea what it is all about. “Sure, Jesus was raised from the dead, we get that. What’s the big deal?”
Well the “big deal” is that our entire Christian faith is based upon that single event – the resurrection. Know this, if Jesus Christ had not been resurrected, then everything He taught would have been a lie and for nothing! Those are strong words, but they are true words and we, as Christians, need to understand this.
Listen to what Daniel 12:1-2 says:
“12:1 “At that time Michael, the great prince who watches over your people, will arise. There will be a time of distress unlike any other from the nation’s beginning up to that time. But at that time your own people, all those whose names are found written in the book, will escape. 2 Many of those who sleep in the dusty ground will awake – some to everlasting life, and others to shame and everlasting torment.”
This is our being told that the resurrected Jesus will come again to take His people home with Him and the rest will be left to eternal torment. No resurrection – no going with Jesus to Heaven.
Jesus Himself predicted His own resurrection. Do you not think that if it was not important, He would not have told us about it? Every word spoken by Jesus is important – that is why most Bible put His words in red print – to set them apart and let us know who is speaking.
The resurrection is the very foundation that our faith is built upon. There are those who reject the thought of the resurrection because they have no example in their lives for how this could happen. They have never seen anyone resurrected so therefore resurrection cannot exist.
Have you ever seen the wind? Have you ever seen electricity? No, but you do not question their existence. “At least you can feel the wind and electricity.” Well I would argue that you can feel Jesus too if you look hard enough! He is working in your life right this moment if you would only have faith in Him and let Him.
I urge you to take some time and do a study on the resurrection of Jesus because far too many people have no clue as to why it is so vitally important in our lives. Plus there are far too many people who argue it could ever have happened. Let us never be ashed of our Lord and Savior but instead let us take a stand and defend Him and His holy work in our live.
With Great Love,
