Your New Boss

Colossians 3:23-24 – “Whatever you do, do your work heartily, as for the Lord, rather than for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance.  It is the Lord Christ whom you serve.”

So I speak to way too many people who let me know that they believe their job is going to eventually kill them.  They are either too busy, or not busy enough.  They either work for or with people who are mean, rude, or incompetent, or they are not using the spiritual gifts that God gave them.

They tell me that they cannot stand their job but they have to keep it because there are no other jobs available, or they are too old to change jobs now, or else they say they will not make as much money somewhere else.  All excuses, and none of them truly worth standing before God and trying to defend.

They want me to give them a magic potion to to help them fix their problem.  Well unfortunately there is no magic potion.  But there is hope!

I want to teach you something that I learned myself and this is something so life changing that I just have to share it with you.  It is going to sound like some kind of mystical rubbish to some of you, to others you just will dismiss it outright because God is involved, but the great part is some of you will believe me and and actually follow this and it will absolutely change your life!

Here it goes;

I no longer work for any person, man or woman.  I work for my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  And since I made that decision, my life has changed in so many great ways they are too many to count.  To begin, no person will ever hold any job over my head again.  “Where I found you I can find 100 more like you.”  Well I wish you luck with that and then I grab my stuff and leave because that is not a God fearing person whose main goal is to serve others before themselves.  That my friends is an incredibly freeing feeling.

I know, I already hear what your saying, “That may work for you, but if I lose my job, my family does not eat.”  Well welcome to the club because mine would not either.  I do not know many people who could lose their job forever and still live comfortably.  But who said it would be forever?  Who says that tomorrow God will not provide you with an incredibly better paying job with a Christian boss for standing up for Him?  You see, if all you see is the negative, then I would have to ask you to take stock of your faith.  God is always more interested in your character than your comfort.

That is exactly what has happened to me and to many other people that I know.  We decided that it was far more important to work for Jesus than for any man or women who would ask us to do something that Jesus would never want us to do, or maybe they treat people as “less than” themselves, or maybe you are simply in a job where you are wasting your God given gifts and talents.

I challenge you right this moment – make a stand for God.  If your job is not one that God would be proud of you having, or is one that is causing you mental or physical trauma, please realize that you having the job you have is a choice you are making and you can choose to make a change.  Will it be a risk?  Of course it will, but God says when you step out in faith for Him, you will be blessed.  And you will!!!  God NEVER breaks a promise.

Please let me know what you think in the comments below.  Do you have faith that God will take care of you if you take this leap of faith?  Are you just too comfortable in your current job that is killing you to take the risk?  Let me ask you, what are the days you are losing from your life because of the stress worth to you?  What are they worth to your family?

What are you waiting for??  God is waiting to bless you for making the stand for you and for Him!!!

With great anticipation for you and lots of love,

Pastor Brad Komgenick
