In God We Trust

I realize that tonight will be a night of great emotions for our country.  Some will be completely depressed and feeling like the world is probably going to come to an end because who they wanted to win the election for President lost.

Others will feel great elation in knowing that their candidate, the right candidate, won the election and now all will be right with the world.

Unfortunately, both candidates are human.  As long as humans as in that position, mistakes will be made.  Sins will happen.  Bad ideas will become reality.  Money will get involved and it will take precedence over what is best for people.

Folks, it has been this way since George Washington took the office.  It will be no different until Jesus returns.

At one time, God was our “king” and in our ignorance, we decided that we wanted a human “king” because certainly they could do better than God was doing.

With that choice, now look where we are.  We cannot even hold a conversation about politics without making people mad.  Just as we cannot speak about Jesus without being told that we cannot speak that name in public, as if He were Voldermort in a Harry Potter novel.

We take Jesus out of our school, then when school shootings happen, our first question is, “Where was God in that?”  God was right where you let Him be, standing outside looking in because in might upset someone if we prayed in schools.

Jesus tells us that where two or more gather in His name, there He will be.  But in places where His name cannot be utters, well He can take a hint.

God is no longer welcomed in our political system either and friends, that is EXACTLY what the problem is with our government.  It is no longer, “For the people by the people.”  Today it is, “For the money, at any and all costs to the people.”

For example, when was the last time any Governor or Senator called you up on the phone and asked your opinion about any local issue?  That was a rhetorical question because I know the answer – the answer is never.  They could care less what you think.  Now the lobbyists on the other hand, they listen to them like a Christian listens to worship music.

And if you truly think that one political party is better than the other, then all I ask you to do is look back over the past year and see just how many politicians bothered with telling you about the issues instead of putting out trash and garbage adds against their opponents.  Yet, they do those ads because that is what we, as a nation, prefer to see!

Each day I ask God, “Will today be the day when you finally get sick and tired of us shunning you and living for ourselves?  Will today be the day when you send your Son, Jesus Christ back to finally end this mess we have made for ourselves?”

Let me put it to you bluntly, if we do not very quickly get back to “In God We Trust” then the end times will be here much quicker than you think.  That means my friends, I pray you are ready for the true King’s return.  It will come in the blink of an eye and if you are not ready, your decision lasts an eternity.

So once again let me ask you, if Jesus comes for you tomorrow, will he tell you, “Well done good and faithful servant”, or will He say, “Away from Me, I never knew you!!!”

With Love,

Pastor Brad Komgenick
