Hark The Herald Angels Sing

“Hark the herald angels sing, glory to the newborn King.”

I get chills everytime I hear or sing this beautiful Christmas tune.  So many times we sing the songs and get joy from them, but how often do we stop to actually learn what the words are telling us?

Hark the Herald Angels Sign tells us that our God, or Lord came to live as a human on Earth – to feel what we feel, to see what we see, to know what we know, and to experience all of the emotions that we experience.  What an awesome and amazing thought that is.  Jesus could have just stayed in Heaven and said, “I’ll just watch from here – call me when you need me.”

But no, He understood that it was going to take a sinless Savior to save mankind from ourselves and our sin nature.  So He came.  So He lived.  So he was tortured.  So He died.  Then gloriously He was raised again on the third day to sit at the right hand of Almighty God and sit in defense of us as we continue to sin each day.

I also love the words, “God and sinners reconcile.”  This is why Jesus came – so that we can be reconciled to our Father who by His very nature can never look upon sin.  Jesus died for us so that we could be seen as sinless to God.  Thank You Lord for not coming down from the cross and using your power to free yourself.  By doing so, you freed us, and for that we owe you everything!

Read now the words to “Hark The Herald Angels Sing” and think about all that Jesus has done for you and then fill your hearts with gratefulness and joy this Christmas Season.

“Hark the herald angels sing
“Glory to the newborn king”
Peace on earth, and mercy mild
God and sinners reconciled
Joyful all ye nations rise
Join the triumph of the skies
With angelic host proclaim
“Christ is born in Bethlehem”
Hark the herald angels sing
“Glory to the newborn king”

Christ, by highest heaven adored
Christ the everlasting Lord
Late in time behold him come
Offspring of the favored one
Veiled in flesh, the God had seen
Hail the incarnate deity
Pleased, as man with men to dwell
Jesus, our Emmanuel
Hark the herald angels sing
“Glory to the newborn king”
With a heart filled with joy, love, and gratefulness for our Risen King,
Pastor Brad Komgenick
