Let’s let God tell us directly from His Word in 1 Corinthians 13:
” If I could speak all the languages of earth and of angels, but didn’t love others, I would only be a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. If I had the gift of prophecy, and if I understood all of God’s secret plans and possessed all knowledge, and if I had such faith that I could move mountains, but didn’t love others, I would be nothing. If I gave everything I have to the poor and even sacrificed my body, I could boast about it; but if I didn’t love others, I would have gained nothing. …”
So obviously love is incredibly important to God and as such, it must be just as important to us as well. When our relationship is in its best shape with God it will come from a place of true love in our hearts and a very strong yearning to get to know God as best as we can while we are here on Earth.
But we always need to remember that God created us for two reasons: 1) a personal relationship with Him, and 2) strong, loving relationships with others. Therefore if we have isolated ourselves, or even begin to think that we can do this thing called life by ourselves and that we do not need others, we are sadly mistaken and will lose out on having God’s best for our lives.
Love is selfless. This calls for us to always be putting others before ourselves. We must always be working on our communication with others to ensure that we are truly hearing their hearts when they speak. This is called attunement and it will be the best tool you can have as you set out to build loving relationships with others. When others know without a doubt that you are listening to them, that you truly heard them and how they feel and what they are thinking, then love will flow naturally from them to you.
It’s the same with God. We must put ourselves in a position to listen to God as well as pray to and talk with Him. God has a lot He wants to say to you, but if you never stop to listen, then He will eventually stop trying to talk and you never want to get there with God.
Friend I cannot tell you have very vital a strong prayer life is to enjoying the fullest that love has to offer in your life. When you and God are talking like best friends, God will fill your life with love at every corner because that is the life God has in store for you.
Will you make the decision to love God and to listen to Him today? You have absolute free will to make that decision – or not. Making it will ensure a life forever filled with love and God’s best. Not making it will ensure that your relationships will forever remain shallow at best because you will be getting your best and not God’s best for you.
Which decision will you make?
With eternal love and hope for your future,
